What is Destin8?

Destin8 is one of the UK's Community System Providers. It is an inventory-linked system that tracks consignments through the port, holds their customs status, and exchanges messages with HMRC's declaration system so goods can be released.

Freight forwarders, hauliers, shipping lines and port operators at participating maritime ports use Destin8 to manage arrivals, link declarations and arrange release of cargo.

Destin8 moves the consignment; the accuracy of the underlying customs declaration — including the commodity code — still determines the duty, VAT and any controls. A correct code keeps cargo moving rather than stuck awaiting query.
