HMRC have announced from 29 July 2020, importers/traders who make their own declarations and customs intermediaries can apply for £50 million of new funding, first announced in June 2020, to increase their capacity to make declarations ahead of 2021
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), which is running the scheme, is encouraging customs intermediaries and traders who make their own declarations to take advantage of the funding now.
With regard to making IT improvements funding can be used to:
Buy software that will help your business to complete customs declarations more efficiently.
It must be a ready-made solution - you cannot use the funding to commission bespoke software.
Tarifftel is a ready-made software solution that can assist in the classification of your imports. It can be used by organisations of all sizes but it's especially useful for importers of a high volume of products.
It is designed to improve classification compliance whilst reducing the need to employ manual resource to undertake classification duties.
We can also export classification data direct to your customs declaration software
You can use the funding to:
Buy hardware that's needed for the software to run
Install and configure the software and hardware
Buy the first year licence
Train employees to use the software
Therefore, the first years cost of implementation of Tarifftel could be covered by HMRC funding
